Upskilling and providing non-traditional employment opportunities for women

Funded through ESF ‘On Your Marks’ funding, the ‘Get Set Build’ project provided innovative courses, that were designed to raise awareness and assist the entry of women into non-traditional careers.

Success for Sport upskills Sports coaches

The 'Success For Sport’ project, led by Kingston College expanded the base for sports coaches, including by increasing participants sports coaching skills to NVQ Level 2.

Construction workers get skills accredited

Co-financed by the LSC, Chichester College ran a project to increase the number of Construction workers with Maintenance NVQ Level 2.

Going for Gold - Beijing 2008

Two ESF funded Apprentices from the South East finished equal 13th in the synchronised swimming duet event at the Beijing 2008 Olympics.

Both are undertaking an Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence funded by the ESF ‘On Your Marks’ programme in the South East.

ASSERT Project - Northamptonshire Society for Autism

Co-financed by the Learning and Skills Council, this ESF project helps to enhance the independence of people with autism and prepare them for work.

Dido Project - Suffolk County Council

The Dido Project was funded by the European Social Fund through the Learning and Skills Council. The Dido Project was aimed at women aged 25 plus and were either unemployed living in rural areas or lone parents.

Ilderton Motor Project

The Ilderton Motor Project was funded by the European Social Fund through the Learning and Skills Council. The project works with teenagers to prepare for a job by learning mechanical skills.

Matching Ability with Jobs (MAWJ) – Portsmouth City Council

The project targeted long-term unemployed people, people with little or no qualifications, lone parents and people on incapacity benefits. The project aim to help participants into work.

The Newco Employment and Training project is funded by the European Social Fund through the Learning and Skills Council aims to support unemployed disabled people into work through training and guidance.

Waltham Forest Mencap – Preparing and Serving Food NVQ Project

The project was funded by the European Social Fund through the Learning and Skills council. The project aimed to enable people with learning disabilities from disadvantage backgrounds to gain qualifications in hygiene and food preparation.
