On 3 March the European Commission launched the Europe 2020 Strategy to prepare the EU economy for the next decade. The Commission identifies three key drivers for growth, to be implemented through concrete actions at EU and national levels:
The announcement of the strategy by the European Commission follows public consultation across Member States.
The Commission proposes that the European Council endorses - in March - the overall approach of the strategy and the choice of EU headline targets, and approves - in June - the detailed parameters of the strategy, including the integrated guidelines and national targets.
